  • Accommodation
    On campus accommodation for the nights of Sunday 18th June and Monday 19th June are included in the registration fee. These are self-contained premium double en-suite study bedrooms (for single occupancy) in the University’s student halls, arranged in flats of 6/8 rooms exclusively for TCR conference delegates. There are shared kitchen/social areas, allowing ample opportunity to network with your fellow delegates. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in the pantries for delegates to use. Rooms also include: • Full bed linen • Basic toiletries and towels • WiFi • Tea and coffee making facilities are available in the shared kitchen (Fairtrade products) • En-suite bathroom with a toilet, hand basin and shower. Please remember to bring electrical adaptors with you if travelling from abroad and note that rooms do not have shaver sockets or air conditioning in the UK.
  • What are the conference dates?
    The conference will commence on the evening of Sunday 18th June and conclude late afternoon Tuesday 20th June.

  • Location

Royal Holloway is situated in Egham, Surrey, just two miles from junction 13 of the M25 and a mere fifteen minutes from Heathrow airport.   • How to get here
    By air For those arriving at London airports, we strongly recommend that you do not take the expensive black cabs, but call either Windsor Cars http://www.windsorcars.com/ (+44 1753 677677) or Gemini Cars http://www.geminicars.co.uk/ (01784 471111). Windsor Cars have a dedicated email for pre-booking journeys: [email protected]. Most local taxi companies know the Royal Holloway campus well and should be able to drop you at the correct area for check-in. Taxi from London Heathrow Airport If called on arrival, the cash price from London Heathrow (any terminal) is approximately £40.00 with Windsor Cars. The driver will meet you at a given location within arrivals. The collection point at Terminals 1-4 is at W H Smith in arrivals. At Terminal 5, the collection point is at Costa Coffee. The collection point will be confirmed when you call. Please note payment by credit card will incur a charge. If pre-booked, the cash price from London Heathrow (any terminal) is approximately £35.00. The driver will meet you in arrivals with a named sign. Please note payment by credit card will incur a charge. Taxi from Gatwick Airport A taxi from Gatwick costs approximately £80.00 and should be pre-booked. This price includes a 40 minute waiting time and parking for up to an hour once the flight has landed. Please note payment by credit card will incur a charge. Sharing a taxi with other delegates will help keep costs to a minimum. By bus (from London Heathrow Airport) There is a reasonable bus service from Heathrow Terminal 5 to Royal Holloway. The number 8 bus leaves from outside Terminal 5 and not from the Central Bus Station. If you arrive at another terminal, please follow flight connection signs for internal airport transfer to T5. Timetables for the number 8 can be found through the following link: https://www.firstbus.co.uk/sites/default/files/public/node_images/PUBLIC%208%208A%20from%20September%202022.pdf By train There are frequent services from London Waterloo to Egham (35-40 minutes); Woking to Egham (35 minutes, change at Weybridge) and Reading to Egham (40 minutes). Services at weekends, especially those on Sundays, are less frequent than on weekdays. Train links to the rest of the country are available via the London stations or Reading. There are usually taxis waiting outside Egham station to take you to Royal Holloway, which is located less than a mile from the station. https://www.southwesternrailway.com/. By car Royal Holloway is on the A30, 19 miles from central London and about a mile south-west of the town of Egham. It is 2 miles from junction 13 of the M25 (London Orbital). After leaving the motorway, take the A30 west, signposted to Bagshot and Camberley (this is the Egham by-pass). At the first roundabout, take the second exit. At the second roundabout, take the second exit and continue on the A30 up Egham Hill. Royal Holloway is on the left at the top of the hill. Free parking is available on campus. The car parks are indicated on the campus map. The SAT NAV post code is TW20 0EX.
  • Accommodation (additional nights)
    Should you wish to book additional nights on Saturday 17 June or Tuesday 20 June/Wednesday 21 June to accommodate flights/travel plans there will be opportunities to do this via the registration site at an additional cost.
  • Accommodation (off campus)
    For delegates wishing to stay off campus, there are hotels in the local area (at various price options). These include: Travelodge Egham (0.8 miles) Great Fosters (1.4 miles) Beaumont House (2.1 miles) Premier Inn Staines-upon-Thames (2.7 miles) The Boleyn Hotel Staines-upon-Thames (3.2 miles) Mercure Staines-upon-Thames (3.2 miles) Bridge Hotel (5.3 miles) Crown Hotel (5.5 miles) Please note that the registration fee includes on campus accommodation, regardless of whether you choose to stay on or off campus. Please indicate on the registration site if you are planning to stay in alternative accommodation. No vacancies exist for those who have not pre-booked accommodation.
  • What re the options to extend and meet as a track?
    Should tracks wish to spend longer working in their tracks, we can offer additional space on Saturday 17th of June, however we are unable to facilitate additional room space for tracks to work on Wednesday 21st June due to campus preparations for a new event. Please contact the Conference Co-chairs directly if you would like to request a dedicated room/space for your track team to pre- work on Saturday 17th June (subject to availability).
  • Partners/ families
    Given that this conference includes all-day working sessions, typically attendees do not travel with their partners/families. We are therefore suggesting to attendees that an off-campus hotel would be more appropriate if they are traveling with their family or partner (see the Accommodation off campus tab above).
  • Local Restaurants
    For anyone arriving earlier than Sunday 18 or departing after Tuesday 20 June, there are numerous places to eat within walking distance or a short taxi ride from the University campus. Indian Megna On the main street of Englefield Green, providing classic tasty dishes and consistently great service for reasonable prices. (2 St Jude’s Road, Englefield Green, Surrey TW20 0DB) Chinese Magic Wok Authentic Beijing and Sichuan dishes on the Egham High Street. (17 High Street, Egham) Thai Eat Thai Provides traditional and fusion Thai dishes conveniently situated on Egham High Street. (67 High Street, Egham) Italian Caspari A gem of a local restaurant that serves traditional Italian food cooked beautifully. (4 St Jude’s Road, Englefield Green, TW20 0DB) Café Gondola A lively Italian restaurant that also boasts a bar, and dishes out cheap, good food and quick service. (168 High Street, Egham, TW20 9HP) Pub Food The Packhorse Now leased by Royal Holloway, this newly refurbished pub (formerly known as the Monkey’s Forehead) offers decent food at fair prices. Located opposite the college towards Egham. (70 Egham Hill, Egham TW20 0BQ Egham Hill, Egham) The Barley Mow A historic pub situated on the green after which Englefield Green is named. (Englefield Green, Egham TW20 0NX) The Red Lion A newly renovated pub that has kept serves hearty homemade food. (52 High Street, Egham, TW20 9EW) The Beehive A cosy pub that serves traditional pub food and German dishes as well. (34 Middle Hill, Englefield Green, TW20 0JQ) The Fox and Hound A large, traditional English pub in Englefield Green, serving great food and wine. Located at one of the entrances to Windsor Great Park. (Bishopsgate Rd, Englefield Green, Egham TW20 0XU) Other Bar 163 For something a little fancier, this is the place to go. Delicious food, tasteful décor, and a walled garden which is perfect to enjoy your meal in on a Summer evening. (163 High Street, Egham, TW20 9HP)
  • How to find my way around campus
    Please use the campus map provided at registration to find your way around campus. There will be some conference signage but this will be minimal, in compliance with College policy. The campus map will help you familarise yourself with the campus before arrival.
  • Mobility
    Please ensure that any mobility requirements are provided during the online registration process or have been forwarded to the conference team a minimum of 5 working days prior to arrival.
  • Allergies and Dietary Restrictions
    During online registration you will have the option to communicate specific allergies or dietary restrictions. Please also inform the conference management service team of allergies/dietary restrictions at least 5 working days before arrival: [email protected].
  • WIFI
    You will receive a pre-configured Username and Wifi code with your room keycard at conference registration on arrival.
